The European Parliament has backed 15% of the aviation emissions solution by deciding to include aviation in Europe's CO2 Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) for cutting greenhouse gases. 15% because airlines only have to pay for permits covering 15% of their pollution quotas - the remainder being issued free. Airlines will have to cut emissions by 3% in the first year, compared to 2005, and by 5% from 2013 onwards. Good!

The amount of life Fishing trawlers are stripping our seas of is disgusting. Destroying ecosystems today for profit that we rely on for food is retarded and grotesque. I think should be crime and George Monbiot agrees.

A great and very informative video on why constant growth, even just a few percent every year, is a recipe for disaster. See, it's basic maths: growth-based economics, rising populations and growing resource usage is fatally flawed. Everything relying on them (that's our economies, our civilisation and ourselves) is in trouble.
